Sean and Maria Conk purchased this 2004 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition with 4.7L V8 engine back in 2008 as their main daily driver, family cruiser and at the time, tow vehicle for their travel trailer and the crawler when header to Moab.
In the years to follow they also acquired a 2007 Toyota Tundra for the heavier work loads, so the 4Runner became “Maria’s 4Runner.” After several years of persuasion, Sean ultimately talked Maria into letting him put it “under the knife.” As an added incentive Low Range Off-Road needed something to show for the Off-Road Expo at Salt Lake City’s South Towne Expo Center. They were even further motivated when they learned that ARB 4X4 Accessories needed something in the show as well; so LROR partnered with ARB to display our vehicle with their products.
The first upgrade was an ARB Touring Style Roof Rack Basket complete with four IPF868 CS lights and ARB 8 foot 2500 Awning. Next was a 3″ lift using highly engineered and extensively tested Old Man Emu (a product line of ARB) suspension parts. The front was fitted with OME Nitrocharger 90000 Shocks and OME2885 coils. We also added SPC 25480 Upper Control Arms for improved droop travel, drivability and tire life as well as adjusting tire position in the wheel well.
The rear was lifted with OME2895 Coil Springs and Nitrocharger 60004 shocks. While we were working in the rear we installed the SPC Lower Control Arms (25950). Of course, Toyota’s Factory Sport Edition XREAS (X-Relative Absorber System) components had to be removed to accommodate all these suspension upgrades.
Most of these installations were video recorded. Four of them are provided below and the rest will become available on our YouTube Channel soon.
